The chrome is generally in good condition and is certainly superior to the car’s exterior finish. The car can be driven as-is and would be welcomed at cruise-ins and local shows, but at some point a car of this rarity and value should be stripped and repainted. The frame appears to be in very good condition. At that time any areas with rust were repaired with body filler and there is no evidence of rust reappearance through the paint in the ensuing years. A Great “10-footer†• Paint and Chrome This Factory Sport Roadster was repainted in red as original, but the repaint was of secondary quality. The clock is not functioning and will need rebuilding.

This spring and early summer, the car underwent approximately $20,000 in work (receipts are available) to make it road-worthy and dependable, including: • New fuel system (tank, lines, pump, rebuilt carb, etc.) • New/Rebuilt brake system (master and wheel cylinders, booster, shoes, turned drums, new front/rear bearings & seals) • New radiator, water pump and hoses • Rebuilt generator • Rebuilt top raising/lowering system including new pistons and trunk weather striping • New P215/75R14 American Classic radial tires The car now runs and drives properly and the gauges, power windows and safety equipment (lights, turn signals, wipers, horn) work correctly, including the original radio. Recent Mechanical Restoration This Roadster was one of several Thunderbird Factory Sport Roadsters purchased by a former owner that sat unused in indoor storage for many years.
